โ€œEvery child is an artistโ€ – Pablo Picasso

Hey there, here’s a super easy no-cook playdough recipe using only natural ingredients and hot water.

Playdough is one of quickest and easiest resources to make. Playing with playdough sparks imagination and works fine motor skills.

Children love to help make playdough as well.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 table spoon cream of tartar
  • 2 table spoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups hot water
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

In a large pot, combine all dry ingredients. Add oil. Slowly pour in the hot water a little at time and combine all ingredients kneading with hand inside the pot. I knead and combine inside the pot without taking the dough out onto the counter top because it is less clean up after! Add food coloring to achieve the desired color.

Keep the playdough in a container in the fridge and it will last a week. The playdough can be reused after each play session.

Teacher’s Notes:

Make the children’s classic “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” come alive with this easy to make playdough caterpillar by using green, red, and yellow food coloring and red pipe cleaners! With the same colors, you can create the foods the caterpillar eats through engaging more senses for learning!
